Sport and relax

The gentle hilly landscape offers the possibility of long, pleasant walks, bike rides and horse rides. Near the Casale there are riding grounds, tennis fields, golf courses, multifunctional sport grounds for five-a-side football, volleyball and basketball; there are also three lakes where it is possible to go fishing: lake Trasimeno, lake of Montepulciano and lake of Chiusi. On lake Trasimeno one can go sailing, canoeing, wind-surfing and waterskiing. The lake of Montepulciano is a LIPU wildlife reserve and is equipped for bird watching.

At the Casale it is also possible to book tennis courts, riding grounds, helicopter rides. We organize excursions on foot and by bicycle; for this purpose we offer our guests the free use of bicycles for individual excursions and, on request, we also arrange guided group excursions.

The routes, on minor surfaced and gravelled roads, pass through beautiful medieval villages and renaissance towns between Tuscany and Umbria, today’s witness to a great artistic past.

For golfers there is the Golf Club Valdichiana, certified course with 9 holes, and the Perugia Golf Club in the near town of Perugia. The latter has a gently rolling course, par 72 – SSS 70 – with thick vegetation along the fairway of many holes which requires skill on the part of the golfer, above all at the first hit; the holes are not very distant but full of obstacles especially on the fast greens. The practice course, with three new executive holes, is made with a modern structure in ply wood.

Of interest are also • the Sailing Club on lake Trasimeno with a sailing school (courses for children, minimum one week) and free excursions on the lake • fishing with the Cooperativa dei Pescatori del Trasimeno in the town of San Feliciano • angling on the lakes of Montepulciano, Trasimeno and Chiusi • walks: environmental excursions on the Isola Polvese with the Centro Trasimeno; visit to the Lipu centre (Italian Society for the Protection of Birds) of Montepulciano lake.
